Prayer12
Welcome to
prayer12.org.uk.
Whatever your need may be.
Whatever your outlook may be.
May the Peace of the Lord be with you.
We hope you find something from it that is of help - both to you personally as well as for individuals and causes which give you special concern.
'Prayer at Twelve' or 'Prayer12'as it is now known, started in the mid-nineteen seventies out of a pastoral situation in Lincoln, England, when minister and congregation felt the need for more prayer in church life.
As it was difficult for the fellowship to meet together regularly during the week, twelve o'clock was set aside as a time to remember those in special need.
The people concerned remembered the time as well, and were aware that the church was supporting them - even though it might be very briefly - in prayer before God.
For a very long time, the idea was a simple as that. Frequently the main purpose was to support those who were seriously ill in hospital. Remembering them like this we found, was a great source of comfort and help. We don't realise how much people who are desperately ill hang on our promise to remember them.
There was however another side. There are those who would be extremely embarrassed if you prayed for them in hospital, but in this way they felt they were included in the prayers without it being made obvious.
It is also a way of relating to people who have no connections whatsoever with any church.
But the concerns of 'prayer12' have opened out in all kinds of directions, and we're still in the process of relating these openings in all kinds of new ways. You are invited to share in all that is going on. This is a Christian based web-site but all peoples of good will are welcome to become part of the 'prayer12' fellowship.
Its aims are.
| Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can. John Wesley 1703-1791. |
AT TWELVE O'CLOCK. Simply remember those who share in this prayer time Say prayer in your own words and thoughts. Or the following prayer may be helpful 'Almighty God. Teach us to pray for others as well as for ourselves, and help us to live our lives in your service. For Christ's sake. Amen.
If I am unable to do anything else, I will hold up my hands in prayer to God,giving thanks for all that He has given, and remember the needy too. For further information or requests, please contact David, warden |

"prayer12" (previously known as Prayer at Twelve) began in 1975. It was launched as a website on the 13th August 1998. The site is usually updated every two or three days - especially the prayer requests. I am very grateful to my next door neighbour who helped me to get going. Without his help this site would never have come into being.
