Prayers for Saturday

Morning prayers Help me to take on board, O Lord, the responsibilities you have placed on me - especially those things that I need do for others. May I find that because you have borne our burdens, our burdens are made lighter -because you share them with us. Amen.

. Midday Prayer

'As I remember one person in special need, O Lord, may I also bear in mind the great needs of the many whom I do not know. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord, Amen.

There are many Catholic friends of prayer12 who pray at 12 noon. The midday 'Angelus' has been a part of popular Catholic devotion from the 17th. century onwards. It was felt that there are others who might find it helpful to use this prayer either completely or in part at midday.

The Angelus

The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary; and she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

( Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.)

Behold the handmaid of the Lord;

be it done unto me according to your word

('Hail Mary' as above)

And the Word was made flesh; and dwelt amongst us.

(Hail Mary...... Pray for us, holy Mother of God,that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ)

Let us pray:

Pour forth, we beseech you, Lord, your grace into our hearts, that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ your Son was made known by the message of an angel, may be brought by his passion and cross to the glory of his resurrection; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

(Adapted from Luke I.26-38)

Evening Prayer.

While we sleep, may we be refreshed by the Spirit, renewed in the faith of Christ; and rest, assured that we are in God's everlasting care. Amen.
